Edward Hotel is located within a short walk
from Paddington Station (2 minutes).

Travelling in London by using public transport is very easy. London underground system and some buses are managed by TFL. Use this website to get some useful information on how to get to your places of interest, what are the charges, the and many more.
In order to pay for your journey, the cheapest way is to use your CONTACLESS BANK CARD (debit or credit). You have to make sure to tap in and out using the same card in order to get the cheapest rate. Remember, only 1 card per person so if you are a family of 3, you would need 3 cards. The same rate so the cheapest one, you can get by using OYSTER CARD. This can be purchased at any station or small shops. You would have to top up the card in order to travel.
We do not advise anyone to buy the paper tickets at the stations as the cost is very high. Using contactless bank card or Oyster card is a lot cheaper.
Kids under the age of 11 travel free on London underground and buses (they must be accompanied by a paying adult). They do not need any card in order to travel.
TFL offers price caps – which means that within a day (24 hours) you can travel as much as you can using tube trains and buses and you will not be charged for every single journey separately. For example, if you make your journeys within zones 1 and 2, you will only be charged £8.10 no matter how many trains or buses you take. This amount (which is subject to change every year) will be deducted from your account the following day.
Buses are excellent travelling alternative. One journey costs £1.75. There is also bus price cap which is £5.25 a day so you can take as many buses as you wish within a day, and you won’t be charged more. Once you are in London, download CITYMAPPER APP to help you with directions.
We partner with Golden Tours and Big Bus so we can offer you their amazing sightseeing tours.

We work with a few taxi companies that can drive you wherever you wish.
Some take cards, some cash only. Usually, the cash only ones are cheaper.
We advise you to pre-book the ride in advance as the taxi drivers can get busy.
Using black caps in London is advisable for short distances only. Do not take it to go to airports as it will cost you a lot. Black cabs charge you using a taximeter that will calculate your fee based on the number of miles you travel or the number of seconds your journey takes. If you are stuck in traffic, you would have to pay for it as well.
The taxi companies we use have fixed tariff.
You can book yourself Uber or Bolt. We cannot do this for you as you need to have your own account.
Always keep in mind that each car has limited luggage space so if travelling with many luggage’s you will require a bigger car or more than one.

Do not show passport or ID to anyone if they ask you on the street even if they pretend to be Police. Police in the UK will never ask you for your identification documents on the street.
Make sure your bags, backpacks, any kind of luggage are closed/zipped especially when travelling on the tube or bus.
Keep your phones in your pockets if you can.
Keep your wallet / purse hidden.
Tipping is not mandatory in the UK. Some places automatically add service charge into your bill. If you are not happy with it or with the service, you can ask them to take it off your bill. If you are happy with the service, you can always leave a tip. Don’t feel shy or embarrassed if it is too low or high. Anything your budget allows is fine. No tip is okay too.
If a beggar on the street asks you for some cash, don’t feel shy to ignore. Unfortunately, the cash usually goes to their boss or for drugs. If you would like to help, a small change is fine. Do not open your wallet or purse in front of them.
When checking out, please double check the room and make sure have all your belongings with you. Guests tend to forget money, passports, clothing, shoes, mobiles, iPads, laptops, cameras behind… Bear in mind it costs a lot to have it sent back. Any items left behind, can only be kept with us for a month.
Kettles in the rooms are for boiling the water only. Please, no milk, sausages or eggs in them. When warming milk in a kettle, the milk protein gets stuck, and kettle cannot be used anymore.
London is beautiful city but there are some bad people too just like anywhere in the world….
